About La Raposera

A den of foxes who think the world runs on math. Because it does.

Raposera is Spanish for a fox den: the place a group of foxes lives and works from. Ours is a group of people who love mathematics and science and build software so that everyday decisions stop being guesses.

ra·po·se·ra · noun · Spanish

A fox den. A hidden, well-built place from which a clever group goes out to work and to which it returns to think.

The story

Why a den, and why foxes

Foxes are the animal people reach for when they mean clever and practical at the same time. They notice what others miss, they adapt, and they do not make a fuss about it. That is the temperament we want in our software: quiet, exact, a little playful, and useful on the first day.

The den is where the work happens. It started as a shared notebook of everyday problems that were quietly quantitative: which pension regime, whether a small business was actually healthy, how much a delay really costs. Each one became a page of math, then a tool. La Raposera is the name on the door.

The name stays in Spanish everywhere. It is where we are from, and there is no English word that says the same thing in eleven letters.

Manifesto

What we believe about math and daily life

“Si estás usando las matemáticas en tu vida diaria, entonces estás solucionando algo importante.”

If you're using math in your daily life, then you're solving something important.

The line the den was founded on.
  1. 01

Math is a daily tool, not a school memory.

Interest rates, probabilities, ratios and rates of change run underneath the decisions people make every week. We think they should be visible, not hidden inside someone else's spreadsheet.

  2. 02

If a number cannot be explained, it should not be trusted.

Every result our software produces traces back to an assumption you can see and change. We would rather show you an ugly formula than hide a pretty guess.

  3. 03

    Useful beats impressive.

A free calculator that helps ten thousand people choose a pension regime matters more to us than a model nobody can run. Sophistication is welcome when it earns its place.

  4. 04

Free where the stakes are personal. Paid where the value is commercial.

Decisions that shape a person's life should not sit behind a paywall. Tools that make a company money can reasonably cost money. The catalog says which is which.

How the den works

Small tools, honest numbers, no theatre

We write it down first

Before code, a page of math: what is known, what is uncertain, what is being optimised. Clients get this page. It is often the most valuable deliverable.

We ship small, verifiable tools

Each solution lives on its own subdomain, does one thing well and can be opened without an account wherever possible.

We stay anonymous, for now

The den is a small group of people with backgrounds in mathematics, science and software. Names and faces will come when they add something. The work should speak first.

We do not invent proof

No fake testimonials, no imaginary clients, no case studies we did not do. When we have real ones, you will see them here.
